"Great alternative to built in Video editors for free"
Lightworks is a great alternative to built in video editors, because it is much, much more powerful. Although it is very confusing at first, all it takes is an hour or two and lots of video tutorials to get up and running with it with the basics. Once you know some keyboard shortcuts, where and what to click/drag, it is incredibly easy to get what you want. Until then, you just have to experiment with it. It's not a program that you can learn inside and out in a couple minutes.
There are a couple things that annoy me a little bit though. It does not come with a built in CG renderer to make titles and such. The way I work around this is to make the titles in Movie Maker then add them in to lightworks. Another thing is that it is crashes sometimes, although it is amazing and you never have to press a save button, because there are none. It autosaves everything. Overall, this is a great FREE! video editor. I'm never turning back to any other free video editors again.
- Final video quality
- Customizable screens
- Ease of cutting clips and putting them where you want
- Amount of options
- The fact that it's been used for many well known films
- Occasional crashes
- Lack of text input into videos
- Learning curve
